Flash Point

Flash point on glycerin samples is normally conducted to verify that the material is safe for handling and transportation.  Methanol is used in biodiesel production and excess methanol that is not completely recovered can be found in crude glycerin. High levels of methanol are responsible for lowering the flash point causing the material to be defined as “flammable.”
