ALLERGEN TESTING

Allergen and gluten testing verifies that preventive controls are in place that mitigate allergen cross-contact in the production facility, essential to protect your consumers. Trust us with your allergen testing needs.

Food allergens are naturally occurring proteins in some foods that can trigger an immune response in allergic individuals. Once ingested, food allergens can cause mild to lethal effects. More than 32 million people in the U.S. are known to have a food allergy. FDA regulates the labeling and control of nine foods that cause about 90% of all allergenic reactions.

Testing offered:

  • peanuts
  • eggs
  • milk
  • soy
  • wheat
  • crustaceans
  • fish
  • tree nuts (e.g., walnuts, hazelnuts, almonds, cashews, pistachios, pecans, etc.)
  • sesame

We also test for gluten which causes food sensitivity.

Each year, FDA receives reports of consumers who experienced an adverse reaction following exposure to an allergen not declared on the food label. Allergen and gluten testing is a verification activity that assures preventive controls are in place that mitigate allergen cross-contact in the production environment, essential to protect your consumers.

Deibel Laboratories uses ELISA based assays to test product samples, allergen swabs of equipment and rinse water from cleaning. We quantify the level of specific allergens that may be present on equipment after cleaning or inadvertently placed in unlabeled product through cross-contact with allergens during processing. With this information, corrective actions can be made.

Deibel Laboratories can work with you to develop and implement allergen controls in your processing facility. We provide training on how to sample for allergens and assistance with interpretation of results is only a phone call away.
