Inductively Coupled Plasma-Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-OES) is a reliable technique for measuring trace (i.e., low part per million range) dissolved phosphorus in oil samples. The results may be used to determine whether seed oil has been “degummed” to remove compounds such as phospholipids.
