Deibel Laboratories was started in 1967 by Dr. Robert Deibel, a true legend in the field of microbiology. Dr. Deibel is regarded as one of the foremost experts on food borne microbial issues and one of the HACCP “Founding Fathers” who expanded Dr. Howard Bouman’s HACCP Principles from three to five, and provided the first HACCP Short Course to the industry in the 1970’s. From his first testing lab in the hallways of the University of Wisconsin to a network of labs across North America. Deibel Laboratories remains a family owned and operated company under the leadership of Dr. Deibel’s son, C.T. Deibel.

Personalized Service Approach
Communication and knowledge transfer are hallmarks of our client service approach. Our clients have direct and immediate access to the scientists in the labs working on your testing via phone, mobile, and email. You also have full access to our Subject Matter Specialists for more detailed consultations. They will personally answer your questions and concerns, not a customer service representative in a call center. Data Management:
All microbiological samples are logged in and started the same day they are received. Deibel’s flexible data management system can integrate with your own systems, making information sharing and access to your results fast and seamless. Alternatively, we can provide advanced tracking and trend reports as well as access to your data through our proprietary client portal: Deibel CoLab. In our transition meetings, we will work together to determine which access point is right for you.
Technical Acumen
- ISO 17025:2017 accredited
- CDC Select Agent approved for C.botulinum testing and challenge studies.
- Developed media known as “M-Broth” which is still in use today for salmonella testing. As a result of our deep knowledge of salmonella, Deibel is the lab clients and competitors alike turn to for conducting Salmonella serology.
- Deibel Laboratories have won numerous awards for accuracy from AACC International
- Industry leader for process validations and thermal mapping studies. For example, using a Salmonella surrogate organism, in collaboration with the Almond Board of California.
- All methodologies are based on current FDA/BAM, USDA/FSIS, USP, AOAC and EPA recognition. PCR and ELISA assays for rapid pathogen detection are also available.

EDUCATION
Our founder, Dr Robert Deibel, was an educator first and always. Deibel Laboratories started in the hallways of University of Wisconsin where he would run testing for the farmers around the University. That foundation in education transferred to how we train at our Laboratories. We strive to be recognized for providing our associates outstanding training so they can deliver excellence for our clients. We support our clients with an extensive library of exclusive safety courses and work to develop custom courses to solve specific needs. Education is Deibel Laboratories foundation.
