Charles “C.T.” Deibel
President and CEO
C.T. is President of Deibel Laboratories, Inc., an internationally-recognized firm providing food safety testing, quality control evaluations, scientific consulting and training for industry leading food manufacturers, as well as family run operations. He is an industry advocate, having testified in front of the House Energy and Commerce Committee on important food safety concerns and has worked with the Department of Justice to help shape the legal case against the Peanut Corp of America executives. He also testified as an expert witness in the PCA trial and offered his Industry and Scientific knowledge to aid clients in recovering from Bacterial remediation events as well as acting as a liaison between State Health Labs and his Clients during the remediation process.Charles is a Microbiologist and HACCP Certified Lead Instructor, a recognized Process Authority by the Almond Board of California, an expert in Pathogen Remediation in plants, and conducts microbial challenge studies, process validations, shelf life determinations and GFSI system development for Deibel clients. He has always been very hands-on in assisting clients with their food safety concerns, spending a significant portion of his time in a variety of food plants.
Brian Farina, M.S.T.
Sr. Director of Client and Technical Services
Brian Farina is the Sr. Director of Client and Technical Services for Deibel Labs. Brian is responsible for overseeing and advising the Technical Services Team in the planning of a variety of special projects. These include (but are not limited to) process validations, inoculated pack studies, and shelf life studies. He also assists clients with a variety of food safety concerns and serves as a Processing Authority for a variety of food industries including, confectionery, nut, high acid/acidified foods, etc. Additionally, Brian is a certified HACCP lead instructor and also conducts Micro 101 courses, as well as custom courses for specific client needs.
Laurie S. Post, Ph.D.
Director of Food Safety and Regulatory Affairs
Dr. Laurie Post is the Director of Food Safety and Regulatory Affairs at Deibel Laboratories. She has over 30 years of experience in the food industry as a Food Safety and Food Microbiology professional. Dr. Post is a recognized food safety authority and leader in the field. She served on the National Advisory Committee on Microbiological Criteria for Foods (NACMCF) from 2016-2021. Dr. Post also chaired the Microbiological Food Safety Committees of the Institute for the Advancement of Food and Nutrition Sciences (IAFNS) and the Grocery Manufacturers Association (Consumer Brands Association). Additionally, she served on the IAFP Program Committee and the Journal of Food Protection Management Committee. Dr. Post is the author of numerous publications.
Dr. Post joined Deibel Laboratories after a 27-year career at Mars Inc. where she was Senior Manager – Microbiology and Food Safety for Mars Global Chocolate. Prior to her career at Mars, Dr. Post was an Assistant Professor of Food Microbiology in the Food Science Department at Rutgers University. In her current role, Dr. Post provides expert consulting services for the development and implementation of FSMA compliant Preventive Controls programs, the resolution of food safety issues and the interpretation of regulations. Dr. Post is a curriculum developer and lead instructor for the Deibel Laboratories Food Safety Training Program including FSPCA Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) and FSPCA Foreign Supplier Verification training courses. She is also a certified HACCP Alliance Lead Instructor. Dr. Post is the industry association representative for Deibel Laboratories serving on IAFP, IAFNS, AOAC CASP and CBA committees.
Kristen Hunt, Ph.D.
Director of Technical Services
Dr. Kristen Hunt has more than 26 years of experience in the food industry as a Food Safety and Food Microbiology professional. Dr. Hunt is a recognized process authority, food safety consultant, mentor in the field, and has been qualified by AOAC to conduct Method and Matrix Validation Studies. She is an active member of AFFI, IAFP, IAFNS (formerly ILSI NA), IFSH, CBA (formerly GMA), and the Peanut and Tree Nut Processors Association. Dr. Hunt has authored several publications. Prior to joining Deibel Laboratories, Dr. Hunt was the HACCP Coordinator for the University of Florida and an educator. Her current role at Deibel allows her to continue her love of conducting research, designing and developing training programs, and teaching. In her current role, Dr. Hunt provides expert guidance with developing and implementing HACCP and FSMA compliant Food Safety plans and supporting programs, processing deviations, process authority expertise, and crisis management. She additionally provides leadership to the Technical Services Team; coordinating, performing, and evaluating high priority projects including but not limited to shelf-life studies, inoculation studies, and process validation projects. Dr. Hunt is a curriculum specialist and lead instructor for the Deibel Laboratories Food Safety Training Program including FSPCA Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) for Human Food, FSPCA Foreign Supplier Verification, and an IFPTI Sanitation Trainer. She is also a certified HACCP Alliance Lead Instructor for Advanced HACCP and HACCP, and a SQF Practitioner.
Ryan Maus
Sr. Food Safety Scientist
Ryan Maus is the Senior Food Safety Scientist for Deibel Laboratories where he accumulated 20+ years of experience. Ryan received a degree in bacteriology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Graduate Certificate in Food Safety and Defense from the University of Missouri. Additional accomplishments include HACCP certification, training as a Preventative Controls Qualified Individual through FSPCA, and IFPTI Sanitation Operator training. Beginning as a Laboratory Manager in the Madison facility, he oversaw all laboratory functions, including quality control and customer service programs, and participated in matrix validations and shelf-life studies. In his current role, he provides expert consulting services, develops FSMA compliant Hazard Analyses, conducts process preventive control validations, and assists in research projects. Ryan is a co-author of the Deibel Laboratories Food Ingredient Hazard Analyses series and editor of the Deibel Laboratories newsletter. He is also an instructor for the Deibel Laboratories HACCP, Sanitation, and Micro 101 Training Courses.
