This method evaluates the amount of sediment that can be separated from fats. A well-mixed sample is poured into a centrifuge tube and spun at 1710 rpm for 1 hour. Generally, sediments in oil samples are attributable to the crushing of a seed or “gums”. The results may be used to adjust price for delivery of a particular commodity load-out.
